Meet Me By The Water Tower

Anyone who has followed this blog for a while will know that for over a decade I’ve ridden along the coast from Brighton where I live to Newhaven to hop on the ferry to Dieppe and cycle on quiet roads and eat good pastries. Water towers are a recurring motif across the northern France landscape and whenever I pass one I invariably sing the following lines from Pete Astor’s “Water Tower” in my head (and sometimes out loud).

Meet me by the water tower
It’s my favourite concrete flower

That image – a concrete flower – pleases me no end, it’s annoyingly brilliant and I wish I’d thought of it. In 2024 I had an exhibition of lino and screen prints of water towers based on many of the photos and sketches I’d collected by that time. Not all of the images I had were used and since then I’ve continued to add to my photo library. I’ve decided it’s time to start some new ‘zines and screenprints.

Prints and ‘zines are available from me via Instagram and hopefully at various print and zine fairs in 2026
