Recently I’ve made a handful of ‘zines based on bike rides over the years. The Picos and Nyhavn first appeared on this blog but I’ve edited or re-written the text extensively. All of them are A6 folded booklets that unfold to A3 with maps, photos and/or words on the reverse side. Full colour digital print on 140gsm Arena Smooth paper stock. Editions of 50 and available to buy from me via Instagram.
Edgeland
A photo ‘zine about riding above and below the cliffs between Brighton and Newhaven. Medium format photographs shot on Kodak Portra 400 with a Holga. Words and old maps on the reverse.

Newhaven to Nyhavn
A few years ago I cycled from Newhaven to Nyhavn in Copenhagen, Denmark. Around 1300km in 6 days because Nyhavn translates into “new haven” in English, and that seemed as good a reason as any for a ride.

Vuelta a los Picos
Diary notes and photos from the time Jorge and I went and cycles around the Picos de Europa in northern Spain. This was almost 10 years ago now and we’re thinking about doing something similar next year…

The Longest Day
One ride, one day, one roll of 120 medium format film. Overnight ferry to Dieppe arriving just before sunrise on the longest day of the year*. Ride all day, back in Dieppe for sunset and then the overnight ferry home. Film wound irregularly through a Holga camera creating overlapping multiple exposure images. Landscape passing in front of your eyes, glimpses caught.

*based on sunrise & sunset times on French met office app. Other sites show Sat 21 June being 1 second longer. It was a very long hot day though and definitely the furthest I’ve ridden in a long time. It felt like the longest day.
